Think of a cheery small-town council, a festive village in a car park, and a scandal that arrives right on cue. Leslie Knope is running Pawnee's holiday village when a local tabloid claims she is having an affair with a councillor. Her colleagues try to keep things going without her, a big romantic decision looms, and Leslie ends up defending her honour on live television in the most undignified way possible. Meanwhile, Christmas gifts are being agonised over all round the office. It is warm, daft and very American, with the same gentle charm as The Vicar of Dibley. A lovely one for a mince pie evening.
