Denise has been watching Nigella and decides this is the year she cooks Christmas dinner for everyone. Jim brings the yuletide log and, to his visible horror, Dave's mum and dad are on the guest list. What follows is the Royle Family at full strength: everyone parked in front of the telly, saying a great deal about nothing, while the day wobbles on towards the table. Rude, gentle and quietly touching, it is the sort of Christmas you would recognise from your own front room, only with better insults and a lot more sitting down.
