Christmas is coming and in Poplar the midwives of Nonnatus House are busier than ever. When an abandoned baby is found on the convent steps, the whole community rallies round to feed, clothe and find his mother. Jenny Lee gets caught up in the sad mystery of an elderly local woman, while newly married Chummy pulls out every stop for a truly memorable children's nativity play. It's a warm, weepy start to a Christmas Day tradition that has now run for over a decade. Not one for small children, but there's tea, kindness and plenty of hankies.
